Chihuahua has United States in its north and in the south it is bordered by Durango. The city of Chihuahua is also famous for breeding dogs. The city has derived its name from the Chihuahua, which is a special breed of dog.

Chihuahua was discovered in the beginning of the 18th century by Deza y Ulloa. The city had an influence of the Roman Catholic missionaries. The city of Chihuahua served as the meeting point for missionaries. The city Chihuahua was renamed as "Real de San Francisco de Cuellar". It was given the status of a villa in 1718.
