Chihuahua



Chihuahua has United States in its north and in the south it is bordered by Durango. The city of Chihuahua is also famous for breeding dogs. The city has derived its name from the Chihuahua, which is a special breed of dog.

Chihuahua History

Chihuahua was discovered in the beginning of the 18th century by Deza y Ulloa. The city had an influence of the Roman Catholic missionaries. The city of Chihuahua served as the meeting point for missionaries. The city Chihuahua was renamed as "Real de San Francisco de Cuellar". It was given the status of a villa in 1718. It finally became a city in 1823.

Chihuahua Climate

Chihuahua experiences very cold winters. The western part of the country has a humid climate.. The highland areas have a dry climate. Hurricanes are very common in this area.

Chihuahua Geography

The city has four gorges Barranca del Batopilas, Barranca del Sinforosa, Barranca del Urique and Barranca del Cobre. The land features canyons which are known as "Copper Canyon."

Chihuahua Attractions

The pink Cathedral is a perfect example of the baroque-style. The Municipal Palace has the largest meeting table. The city is famous for its museums. Mansion Quinta Gameros, Regional State Museum and La Quinta Luz Museum are some of the famous museums. The municipal library in the Lerdo Park must be visited by the tourists.

The government is trying its best to develop the tourist attractions of Chihuahua.
