Mexico Politics


 

Mexico Politics is characterized by multi party system. It is one of the most vibrant federal republics of the world. The Mexican federal government operates in three branches. President leads the executive branch of the federal government. This branch is in charge of taking all types of crucial political decisions. The Senate and all types of juridical laws and regulations come under the domain of the Legislative branch of the Mexican federal government. The judicial branch of Mexican government takes care of the operations of the Supreme Court and all national level tribunals.

Mexican Political Parties

National Action Party, Institutional Revolutionary Party and Democratic Party are the three major parties that prevail in the politics in Mexico. All major political parties in the Mexican Republic fall under the purview of the Federal Electoral Institute. New Alliance, Green Ecological Party and Social Democratic and Peasant Alternative Party are three other prominent political parties in Mexico. Each political party is required to have a minimum of two percent of the total electoral vote to operate as a registered party in Mexico Politics.

Mexican Local Government

The United Mexican States is composed of one administrative district and 31 states. Each of the Mexican states is split into several municipal regions. The governors of the Mexican States are selected by general election. The tenure of local government lasts for six years at a stretch. In case of any urgent situation, the President can dissolve the operation of the Mexican local governments with prior endorsement from the Senate. The state governments are dependent on the central government for all types of public-funded undertakings.
