Universidad de Guanajuato has made major contributions in furthering the cause of education in Mexico. Universidad de Guanajuato in Mexico was established in the year 1732. The beginning of Universidad de Guanajuato was in the Hospice of the Holy Trinity, that an educational center. After the hospice was permitted to function as a college by the Spanish Crown in 1796, it came to be called the College of Holy Trinity. In the year 1827, with the introduction of constitutional government, Calos Montes de Oca Mendez was put in charge of the college and assumed the name College of the Immaculate Conception. The college changed its name again in the year 1867 and came to be called National College of Guanajuato. The college took its final name, Universidad de Guanajuato in the year 1945.
