CUCEA was established in the year 1994, on August 5th. The foundation of CUCEA was laid according to the suggestion provided by the General Council Universitario. CUCEA was founded by integrating a number of other departments, founded earlier. These were Economic Theory Research Centers, Accountant's office, Economy, Tourism, Administration and Institute of Economic and Regional Studies.
Among the departments of University of Guadalajara, CUCEA has the maximum number of students. There are approximately fourteen thousand and one hundred students enrolled in regular courses at CUCEA. Besides, there are also large number of students enrolled for PhD courses. CUCEA provides excellent infrastructural facilities to the students. There are nineteen buildings comprising the department of CUCEA. Special classrooms are sixteen in number. The auditorium of CUCEA can hold several audiences and is extremely well equipped. Another unique feature of CUCEA is the cyber garden, which can accommodate one hundred and eighty people. CUCEA is also associated with the society of Jalisco through nine investigation centers.
For enhancing the quality of education provided at CUCEA, Informative Resources Center known by the CERI has been created. It consists of all the libraries of the Guadalajara University and is home to a huge collection of books and magazines.
